A con
I finally understand why I don’t like foam mattress toppers! I slept on one last night. The bed is just way too soft so I woke up so many times feeling uncomfortable. The firm foam mattresses are so much better than the mattress toppers. I’ve been had!

How to survive the age of distraction →
In the age of the internet, physical paper books are a technology we need more, not less. In the 1950s, the novelist Herman Hesse wrote: “The more the need for entertainment and mainstream education can be met by new inventions, the more the book will recover its dignity and authority. We have not yet quite reached the point where young competitors, such as radio, cinema, etc, have taken over...

Good Read: Embattled Selves
Though I am only a few pages into Embattled Selves: An Investigation into the Nature of Identity Through Oral Histories of Holocaust Survivors by Kenneth Jacobson, I must say how riveting and poignant it already is.  I can already anticipate the tears that will come. To be honest, I’ve been hesitant to begin reading this particular book after all the tears that fell while reading only the...

Have you ever played Set?
It’s a card game. The basic rule is this: To make a set, you must select three cards where two do not share a characteristic that the third does not have. It took me a while to put it together and seems to be too concise at times. There are four characteristics: color, number, fill, and shape. Here is a link to try the Set Daily Puzzle.

Eskenazi just doesn't have the same ring to it.
The $754 million dollar project to replace the aging Wishard Memorial Hospital has secured $40 million from Sidney and Lois Eskenazi. So now the hospital is to be named Sidney and Lois Eskenazi Hospital - and the Wishard system will be renamed Eskenazi Health in 2014. Wow.

“Did you hear about the middle Eastern potentate?” he asked me. “This potentate called a meeting of the wise men in the kingdom, and said, “I want you to gather all the world’s knowledge together in one place so that my sons can read it and learn.” The wise men went off, and after year, they came back with twenty-five volumes of knowledge. This potentate...

What's Missing in Politics: Vision
OK, none of them are blind. But seriously - lack of vision is driving me nuts. TELL ME WHAT YOU WANT TO DO. TELL ME WHAT YOU SEE SO I CAN DECIDE IF I’M WITH YOU OR NOT. JUST SPIT IT OUT! My secret fear is that no one truly has a vision for America…or that they’re afraid to say it in fear of alienating each other.  I should host a debate: Do you think we need to invest in...
